Shandong cities see summer travel surge

Print PrintAs the summer travel season peaks, East China's Shandong province is experiencing a surge in tourism, with unique experiences like cooling off in springs, exploring mountains, and relaxing by the sea attracting many visitors.
To date, hotel reservations for the summer vacation in the province have increased by 43 percent year-on-year, while ticket reservations for scenic spots have risen by 164 percent.
Shandong has launched a number of innovative summer travel products, leveraging its natural resources such as springs, lush mountains, and the sea. Jinan, capital of the province and known as the "Spring City", offers a cool tour that links attractions like Baotu Spring and Daming Lake. Yimeng Mountain has created a 12-hour immersive experience, from lively campsites to scenic mountain tops.
Coastal cities like Qingdao, Yantai, and Weihai are also popular destinations for summer retreats, with activities ranging from beach fun to water sports and agreeable temperatures during the hot season.
The Shandong tourism ship "Peninsula No 1" made its maiden voyage on July 29 from Penglai, Yantai, connecting major coastal cities and offering a new way to explore Shandong's marine beauty. This initiative is expected to further boost the province's summer tourism market.
