Fifty-one Shandong companies have been named to the 2026 China Top 500 Private Enterprises list, accounting for 10.2 percent of the total and ranking third nationwide. The combined revenue of these companies reached 4.37 trillion yuan ($652.17 billion), with an average of 85.76 billion yuan.

Leading the pack is Shandong Weiqiao Pioneering Group, which ranked 10th with 591.57 billion yuan, making it the only Shandong firm in the top 10. It has held a top-ten national ranking for 13 consecutive years. Other Shandong enterprises in the top 50 include Xinfa Group (21st) and Nanshan Group (23rd).

Weiqiao Pioneering Group, founded in 1951, has grown from a small rural oil and cotton processing plant into a global industrial leader. The group operates two world-leading core businesses: textiles and aluminum. It has built a complete, self-controlled industrial chain in both sectors, with 18 production bases in China and abroad, total assets of 320 billion yuan, and a workforce of 110,000.

The group has been listed among the Fortune Global 500 for 15 straight years, ranking 156th in 2026, up 10 places from the previous year. It holds more than 4,000 independent intellectual property patents and launches over 1,000 new products a year. In green manufacturing, the group now operates 13 national and provincial-level green factories, advancing its transition toward low-carbon operations.
