Weifang Kite Carnival to return with autumn events

Print PrintThe 2026 Weifang Kite Carnival will return with its autumn program from Sept 29 to Oct 2 at the World Kite Park in Weifang, Shandong province, bringing together international competitions, traditional kite-making, exhibitions, and cultural activities.
A highlight will be the first World Sport Kite Championships to be held in Weifang. Kite flyers from multiple countries will compete at the park's flying field from Sept 30 to Oct 1.

The seventh National Traditional Kite Creative Making Competition will bring dozens of kite makers from across China to Weifang, highlighting the diversity of China's traditional kite-making traditions. The competition will feature seven categories of traditional kites, including hard-wing, soft-wing, and three-dimensional kites. Artisans from different regions will also present signature works that reflect distinctive local styles and techniques. Entries will remain on display at the park from Sept 29 to Oct 7.
The 13th Shandong Provincial Kite Championships will run from Sept 30 to Oct 1, with 20 professional teams from the province's 16 cities taking part.
Young kite designers will also have their turn in the spotlight. An exhibition featuring entries from primary and secondary school students in Weifang will be held from Oct 1 to 3, presenting original designs by young participants.
Beyond the competitions and exhibitions, the World Kite Park will feature food, traditional cultural activities, and cultural and creative products for visitors.
