The Smart Dragon 3 Y-12 carrier rocket successfully lifted off from waters off Haiyang, East China's Shandong province, on Aug 5, sending Oriental Smart Eye hyperspectral satellites 01 and 02 into preset orbit. As China's workhorse for offshore orbital insertions, the rocket continues to prove its reliability, providing robust support for routine sea launches out of the Haiyang Oriental Aerospace Port.

The newly launched satellites will join the existing Oriental Smart Eye high-resolution satellite 01 in orbit to form a service system combining broad surveys with detailed observations. Equipped with hyperspectral and artificial intelligence technologies, the satellites will provide high-precision data for applications including agricultural monitoring, ecological protection, and resource management.

The offshore launch also drew crowds of space enthusiasts and tourists to Haiyang's coast. The onshore viewing events featured aerospace fairs, robotic dog shows, and local yangko dance performances, creating a festive atmosphere.

To date, Haiyang Oriental Aerospace Port has carried out 27 fully successful sea launch missions, sending 166 satellites in total. The port is home to over 30 aerospace industrial projects with total investment exceeding 33 billion yuan ($4.89 billion). Looking ahead, Haiyang will further optimize its commercial aerospace industry value chain to strengthen the growth of China's commercial space sector.
