Known as the "World Kite Capital", Weifang in East China's Shandong province is drawing visitors not only for its kite culture but with its diverse coastal tourism resources along Bohai Bay.

Located about an hour's drive north of downtown Weifang, Joy Sea Beach has become a popular summer destination for both residents and tourists. This national 4A-level scenic area features a 1,600-meter stretch of golden sand, gentle waves and clear waters, making it an ideal destination for seaside leisure and family outings.

One of the area's signature attractions is the Bohai Eye, the world's tallest non-axle Ferris wheel. Standing 145 meters high, the landmark offers panoramic views of the Bailang River and Bohai Bay, where the river and sea converge to create a unique coastal landscape.

For visitors seeking a more immersive marine experience, Longwei Beachcombing Park offers opportunities to experience traditional coastal life through a range of beachcombing activities.

Supported by a provincial-level marine ranch and extensive mudflats, the area is rich in shellfish and crabs. Visitors can dig for clams, search for sea snails and catch crabs while enjoying the distinctive charm of the seaside.

In recent years, Weifang has continued to diversify its tourism offerings by integrating coastal resources with leisure, ecological and cultural experiences, further enhancing the city's appeal as a summer travel destination.
