A delegation of major travel agents and airline representatives from Australia participated in an in-depth tour of Shandong province from May 27 to June 1, with the support of the China National Tourist Office in Sydney. The trip was aimed at developing tailored inbound travel products and attracting more Australian tourists, especially young people, to Shandong for sightseeing and exchanges.
The six-day itinerary included six cities — Qingdao, Zibo, Jinan, Tai'an, Jining, and Weifang. Visitors experienced cultural landmarks such as the Qingzhou Museum, Zhoucun Ancient Town, Nishan Sacred Land, and Taishan Mountain. They also visited trendy spots like Zhongshuge and Dabaodao, witnessing the fusion of tradition and modernity. The visitors made kites and colored glaze works, tried on hanfu (traditional Chinese attire) and enjoyed a Kong Family banquet.
They praised Shandong's diverse offerings and pledged to promote the province through their networks.

Since 2025, visa-free policies have led to the relaunch of the Melbourne–Qingdao air route, the introduction of six themed tour products tailored for Australian visitors, and a 33.2 percent year-on-year rise in Australian arrivals in the first four months of 2026.
