The "Hometown of Confucius, Friendly Shandong" event took place on May 20 at Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong, as part of the 2026 Hong Kong–Macao–Shandong Week activities. The event aimed to strengthen cooperation between Shandong and Hong Kong's travel trade, airlines, and cultural enterprises, highlighting Shandong's rich tourism resources and newly facilitated entry policies.
The roughly 170 guests included representatives from the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the Asia Tourism Exchange Center, the Hong Kong SAR government's tourism office, as well as travel agencies, study tour operators, and airlines.
At the event, Shandong introduced three themed inbound study tour products and six specialized travel routes. Invitations for on-site inspections were extended to Hong Kong school principals and study tour organizers, aiming to boost youth exchanges.

A series of exhibitions ran alongside the promotion, featuring Zibo colored glaze, cultural creative products from eight Shandong museums, and Friendly Shandong souvenir collections. The popular Ma Biaobiao horse-shaped doll attracted particular interest. These displays gave Hong Kong visitors a vivid taste of Shandong's cultural heritage and modern creativity.
