Print PrintEast China's Shandong province is making waves in maritime tourism with its "Peninsula No 1" tourism cruise initiative launched in coastal cities like Qingdao, Weihai, and Rizhao. This initiative also encompasses a diverse range of marine tourism experiences, from island-hopping to coastal sightseeing.
Shandong is leveraging its rich marine resources to create a multi-dimensional tourism experience. The "Xunxian 6", a branch of "Peninsula No 1" departing from Yantai, offers a unique island-landing experience, allowing tourists to immerse themselves in the local lifestyle. Meanwhile, the "Xunxian 17" – one other branch – operates the only inter-provincial maritime tourism route in the Bohai Bay, connecting Yantai, Shandong with Dalian, Liaoning province. Shandong is also focusing on niche markets such as family travel and study tours, offering tailored experiences that cater to different needs.
To further boost maritime tourism and economy, Shandong plans to optimize its cruise routes and expand its tourism product system. The province aims to build a comprehensive maritime tourism network that links coastal cities and enhances regional cooperation. With these efforts, Shandong is not only strengthening its marine culture but also setting a new standard for sustainable and high-quality maritime tourism development.
