Shandong strengthens cooperation with Pacific Island countries on climate change, rural vitalization

Print PrintChina (Shandong) - Pacific Island Countries Roundtable on Rural Vitalization Cooperation and Exchange & the 3rd Anniversary Celebration of the China-Pacific Island Countries Climate Action Cooperation Center were held in Dong'e county, Liaocheng, East China's Shandong province, on May 28, with over 120 government officials, experts, scholars, and business representatives from China and nine Pacific Island countries participating.
Addressing the event, Cheng Lin, vice-chairman of the Shandong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, emphasized the longstanding friendship between China and the Pacific Island countries. He highlighted fruitful cooperation in rural vitalization and climate action and expressed Shandong's commitment to expanding and deepening cooperation with the Pacific Island countries in areas such as food security, poverty alleviation, sustainable agriculture, and climate change.
In his address, governor of the Vava'u Islands of Tonga Asinate Fakatulolo hailed the deep friendship and fruitful cooperation between the Pacific Island countries and Shandong, especially with Liaocheng. She pledged to further enhance practical cooperation in various fields, explore new forms of cooperation, and promote sustainable development.
Zhang Baishun, mayor of Liaocheng, expressed Liaocheng's eagerness to share its experiences in rural empowerment and achievements in green and low-carbon development with the Pacific Island countries, enhance the influence of the climate action center, and jointly create a model for mutually beneficial cooperation.
