Romano Prodi, former president of the European Union (EU), recently visited Longting Vineyard in Penglai district, Yantai, East China's Shandong province, to learn about its approach to sustainable agriculture.

Professor Prodi toured the vineyard and engaged in enthusiastic exchanges with the winemakers. From natural cultivation methods to the growing ecosystem diversity, the former EU leader was highly impressed. "The biodiversity here is astonishing!" he remarked.

Exploring the vineyard's cellar, Professor Prodi carefully tasted Longting's flagship wines and initiated discussions on biodynamic farming and the future of ecological agriculture. "Longting has set a benchmark for the industry. This is the sustainable development model that the global wine industry needs," he said.

Following his meeting with winery owner Song Yan in Italy and a visit to Beijing's Longting Vineyard Cultural Experience Hall last year, this marks Prodi's third encounter with Longting. The vineyard, which adheres to natural agriculture and eco-friendly practices, is dedicated to forging a path towards green and sustainable development.
