An event offering an immersive Dragon Boat Festival experience took place at the Rizhao Olympic Water Sports Park in Shandong on May 30.
Thirty foreign experts, international visitors, and representatives of high-level talent from 11 countries gathered along the shores of the Yellow Sea to partake in immersive activities such as making zongzi (sticky rice dumplings with bamboo leaves), dragon boat racing, and sea golf, experiencing the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture while celebrating Dragon Boat Festival.
At the event, the fragrance of zongzi mingled with laughter and joy. Guided by staff, participants learned how to prepare Shandong-style zongzi, from unfolding the leaves to filling them with sticky rice and tying them up.
"I am very excited today because I came from a long way. I am particularly fond of learning about Chinese traditional culture and customs. Since it's my first time making zongzi, I am very interested. I often see traditional Chinese families making zongzi online and on TV. It's great to be able to do this with my loved ones and friends," said a student from Cuba studying at Shandong Vocational and Technical University of International Studies.
