Chinese online travel agency Ctrip Group released its 2025 Dragon Boat Festival Travel Report on June 2, showcasing Shandong's rich natural landscapes and history, which attracted many tourists.
According to the latest report, Jinan was among the top eight domestic destinations for short getaways, while Qingdao ranked in the top 10 for both national and inbound tourism hotspots. Tai'an led domestic scenic spot ticket sales growth, while Rizhao secured the seventh spot.
Qingdao, renowned for its picturesque coastal views, rich maritime culture, and pleasant climate, successfully claimed a spot in the top 10 most popular destinations for domestic travel. Ctrip data revealed a 24-percent increase in hotel bookings and a 12-percent rise in flight bookings for Qingdao during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, showcasing its robust tourism appeal.
Qingdao was also among the top 10 destinations for inbound tourism during the holiday. With China's tourism market opening up, more international tourists are turning their gaze towards the city.
Known as the Spring City, Jinan boasts famous attractions like Baotu Spring and Daming Lake, steeped in a unique culture and history. With a 23-percent year-on-year increase in short domestic getaway bookings during this year's Dragon Boat Festival holiday, Jinan stood out with its many tourism offerings, securing a spot in the domestic top 10 for short getaway destinations.
Visitors to Jinan mainly came from nearby cities like Zibo, Tai'an, and Dezhou due to their proximity and convenient transportation. Jinan is especially popular among regional tourists during Dragon Boat Festival.
Moreover, tourists from economically developed regions such as Beijing and Shanghai are captivated by Jinan's unique Spring City culture, flocking to explore the city's historical and cultural allure.
