Nearly 90 robot teams from across China took on the challenging trails of Taishan Mountain at the First CMG World Robot Mount Tai Climbing Competition, held on Nov 2 in Tai'an, Shandong province.
The competition was held along the classic hiking route from Hongmen to Zhongtianmen, with the full route stretching about 3.9 kilometers and featuring more than 3,100 steps. Each event had its own designated finish point.
Humanoid robots competed in a dedicated racing event, while quadruped robots took part in both racing and load-carrying competitions. Other events included an all-terrain mobility and exploration challenge, which tested robots' ability to navigate complex terrain, and an exoskeleton-assisted climbing event.
The challenges tested the robots' adaptability, autonomous navigation, and ability to operate steadily in complex environments.
After fierce competition, the Unitree A2 robot, developed by Beijing Lingyi Technology Co, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hangzhou-based Unitree Robotics, reached the finish line at Zhongtianmen in 43 min 41 sec to win the quadruped robot racing event.
The Yinyi NE01 humanoid robot, developed by Genisom AI, won the humanoid robot race, completing the 1.6-kilometer course from Hongmen to Doumu Palace, which includes more than 600 steps, in 27 min 26 sec.
The D50 quadruped robot, developed by LINXAI Robotics, won the load-carrying event, completing the 3.3-kilometer course from Hongmen Square to Hutian Pavilion, with more than 2,100 steps, in 1 hr 51 min 29 sec.
