A 33.76-kilometer scenic road in Dongying's Lijin county has been selected for a national showcase of scenic road projects in 2026, organized by the China Highway and Transportation Society.

The route is one of 49 rural road projects selected nationwide, highlighting efforts to improve transportation infrastructure while promoting tourism and rural development.

Stretching along the Yellow River, the road forms a key part of Shandong's Yellow River-to-Sea tourism corridor. It connects riverside landscapes, cultural attractions and rural communities, offering visitors a way to explore the region's natural and cultural heritage.

The route features 16 service stations, five parking areas, 12 scenic viewpoints and 6.8 kilometers of walking and cycling paths. It also provides access to nine national 3A-rated tourist attractions, more than 10 villages, three agricultural parks and 12 family farms.

By linking seven bridges crossing the Yellow River and improving access to surrounding communities, the road has strengthened local transportation connections and created new opportunities for tourism and rural businesses.

Combining scenic travel with improved infrastructure, the route demonstrates how rural roads can support regional development while making the Yellow River's landscapes and cultural attractions more accessible.
