No country or civilization holds all the answers to global challenges, said Suos Yara, chairman of the Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Information of the National Assembly of Cambodia, at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Nishan Forum on World Civilizations.

He called for enhanced multilateral dialogue, mutual learning, and respect for differences to turn diversity into strength and uncertainty into shared hope.

Yara noted that peace is the common aspiration of humanity, and lasting peace also means opportunities, dignity and shared progress. The forum, he said, is a fitting platform to turn broad principles of civilization, order and justice into practical dialogue.

The chairman also stressed that every country should follow a development path based on its own history, culture, national conditions and people's aspirations. Civilizations progress through continued exchange, mutual learning and adaptation, he said, and Cambodia-China relations are themselves a testament to such exchanges. 

The Nishan Forum, he added, brings new vitality to this long tradition of cross-cultural exchange.

The forum was held in Qufu, Jining in East China's Shandong province, the hometown of Confucius, from Sept 28 to 29.
