At the opening ceremony of the 2026 Nishan Forum on World Civilizations held in Qufu, in East China's Shandong province on Sept 28, Thomas Bach, ninth president and honorary president for life of the International Olympic Committee, highlighted in a video address the common ground between Confucian thought and the Olympic ideal, saying both can educate, convey values, and build bridges of understanding.
