Unearthed in Qingzhou, Shandong province, the Yachou Yue is a Shang Dynasty (c.16th century–11th century BC) bronze ceremonial yue (axe-blade) featuring an openwork human-face motif and the inscription "Yachou". As an important ritual object, it symbolized status and authority, while also reflecting the ritual norms and social order of early Chinese civilization.
