The second edition of the conference on social etiquette and civility in rural areas was held in Linyi, East China's Shandong province, on July 16. It brought together officials, farmers, scholars, cultural workers, and grassroots representatives from all over China, aiming to promote better rural development through etiquette and civility.

Zhang Baoliang, Party secretary of Linyi, said at the conference that Linyi, as a nationally renowned old revolutionary base area and a major agricultural city, is also the birthplace of the Yimeng Spirit, which embodies the perseverance and resilience of the Chinese people in the face of hardship.

Five parallel sessions were held during the two-day event, covering topics including preserving fine farming traditions, reforming outdated customs, vitalizing rural culture, and promoting collaboration between urban and rural areas in building civilized villages.

Key outcomes released at the main event included a collection of best practices in rural civility development and a "national report on rural civility construction". The conference also featured a national showcase of outstanding artistic performances on the theme of reforming outdated customs. Building civilized rural customs is essential for comprehensive rural vitalization and social progress. Discussions focused on strengthening ideological guidance for farmers, advancing cultural development in rural areas, and fostering good family values and family traditions. The event highlighted the importance of integrating digital tools with rural civility efforts and telling compelling stories of rural transformation.
