A group of 50 Russian teenagers recently arrived in Qufu, the hometown of Confucius in Shandong province, for a 12-day immersive cultural study program. A China–Russia Confucian culture study camp was launched to offer young participants a deep dive into traditional Chinese philosophy and heritage.
The itinerary covers iconic cultural landmarks including the Temple and Cemetery of Confucius, the ancient city of the Lu State, the Confucius Museum, and Nishan Sacred Land. Participants will also explore modern cultural venues along Liaohe River ancient streets, where they can experience the fusion of tradition and modern creativity.

The program combines classroom learning with hands-on activities. Russian students will attend Chinese language classes, practice traditional martial arts, and try their hand at ancient rubbing techniques. Cultural performances, folk dance shows, and youth sharing sessions are also arranged to facilitate cross-cultural exchanges. Local intangible cultural heritage cuisines add a flavorful touch to the experience.
Local authorities plan to further develop study tour products tailored for overseas youth, enhance international reception services, and expand their global promotional efforts through overseas social media and travel expos. The initiative is part of Qufu's broader effort to establish itself as a world-class cultural tourism destination.
