Weihai, a coastal city in East China's Shandong province, is becoming a popular destination for South Korean visitors for ground golf, a popular leisure sport in South Korea for all ages. The city's scenic coastal courses, with refreshing sea breezes and panoramic ocean views, offer a special "sports + seascape" experience that is hard to find elsewhere.
In the first five months of this year, the city's Dongpuwan ground golf course alone received nearly 3,000 international visitors, most of them South Koreans. Many traveled with their families, making the game the centerpiece of their vacation.
"The wide-open course and beautiful environment make exercising by the sea very enjoyable. Visa-free travel is also very convenient," said a Korean visitor.

Weihai has also benefited from relaxed entry policies. Over 37,000 foreign travelers entered the city through Weihai during the first five months of this year, a year-on-year increase of more than 50 percent, with over 80 percent entering visa-free. Local border inspection authorities provide South Korean-speaking staff and tailored services to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience.
