The 5th RCEP (Shandong) Import Expo began in Linyi on April 20, signaling a shift in strategy as the city transitions temporary exhibition "traffic" into long-term "retention". By implementing a unique "1+7" integration mechanism, Linyi has incorporated cultural tourism into the trade event, creating a combined effect that boosts urban consumption.
At the heart of this initiative, the Linyi Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism has teamed up with 35 scenic spots, including the Langya Ancient City and the Former Residence of Wang Xizhi. Exhibitors and buyers enjoy exclusive discounts and free entry for some of them, a move that saw core site attendance spike by over 30 percent on the expo's first day. This connection between the expo and the landscape ensures that international visitors experience the region's culture along with their business activities.
The strategy also engages visitors with the Taste of Linyi campaign. Traditional dishes like Yimeng fried chicken and pancakes are prepared on-site during the expo, offering an immersive culinary journey that reinforces the city's identity in the minds of global merchants. Meanwhile, enhanced performances and folk-art displays at local landmarks promote a "Trade by Day, Tour by Night" experience.
By integrating business with culture and premium services, Linyi is redefining the expo experience. This approach not only increases immediate revenue in hospitality and creative sectors, but also presents a lively city image to the RCEP region, ensuring that the influence of the trade fair continues long after the event ends.
