Print PrintIn Kenli district of Dongying, cranes are rising over what is set to become a national model for a zero-carbon industry.
This zero-carbon industrial park has been included in China's national zero-carbon park development program, a recognition that positions Dongying at the forefront of industrial decarbonization.
At the heart of the project is the 40GWh lithium battery green manufacturing base, currently under fast-track construction. The park will operate entirely on directly connected renewable electricity, the first of its kind in China. Wind and solar power will be integrated through advanced grid-forming energy storage technology developed by CATL, converting intermittent renewables into stable power for continuous production.
Simply put, the park produces its own clean electricity, stores it when supply exceeds demand, and releases it when needed — reducing emissions and stabilizing costs for businesses.
The national designation is already attracting interest from export-oriented and technology firms seeking low-carbon supply chains. With complete green power traceability, products manufactured here will carry verified renewable energy credentials, enhancing their competitiveness in global markets.
As construction progresses, Dongying is transforming its renewable energy advantages into industrial momentum — building not just a zero-carbon park, but a new engine for high-quality development.
