Jinan has introduced a new cultural landmark with the opening of the Shandong Ancient Architecture Museum. Situated on Shangxin street, the museum is housed in a nationally protected heritage complex originally constructed in 1934. After extensive restoration, the site has been revitalized as a public venue dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of traditional architecture.

The complex showcases early 20th-century architectural design, organized along a central axis and featuring a traditional siheyuan courtyard layout. Its gray-brick walls and green-tiled roofs reflect classical Chinese aesthetics, while subtle Western decorative elements in the interiors reveal the stylistic influences of the era.

The museum also serves as an interactive learning space. Specialized craft workshops offer visitors the opportunity to explore traditional building techniques, including mortise and tenon joinery. In the color painting studio, guests can learn about decorative architectural art under the guidance of skilled artisans. Participants can also create wooden handicrafts such as Luban locks and hairpins, turning historical knowledge into hands-on experience.
