Print PrintAn intangible cultural heritage exhibition showcasing Tai'an's traditional craftsmanship opened on a cultural street in Seoul, South Korea, in celebration of the Spring Festival.
The event offered exquisite works from Tai'an's representative ICH projects — including Hou-style paper-cutting, Tai'an incense art, Yang-style rope knotting, and Liu-style woodblock prints, offering South Korean people an immersive taste of Chinese New Year traditions.
At the paper-cutting display, delicate zodiac animals and Taishan Mountain sunrise motifs drew constant admiration. The intricate technique left many spectators in awe.
The incense art corner, crafted from Tai'an lingzhi mushroom and wild mugwort, filled the air with a subtle fragrance. Visitors listened as docents explained the ties between incense culture and Chinese New Year blessings. Meanwhile, Yang-style red and gold rope knots are shaped like Peking Opera faces and sparked comments: "It's like artwork straight out of a Chinese period drama!"
Liu's woodblock prints, integrating Tai'an traditional culture with festive motifs, impressed local art enthusiasts with their bold lines and philosophical depth.
"Great art needs no translation," said a South Korean visitor. Through this exhibition, many discovered the beauty of Chinese craftsmanship and its underlying wishes for peace and happiness. Several expressed strong interest in traveling to Tai'an for deeper cultural experiences.
For three days, the exhibition served as a cultural bridge. Moving forward, Tai'an will continue promoting its heritage treasures globally, using ICH as a bond to deepen mutual understanding and friendship between China and South Korea.
