Pengcheng Max Construction Machinery in Weihai, East China's Shandong province, has landed a major 200-million-yuan ($28.66 million) deal from Africa for its DX370 excavators.

As the company's star product, the DX370 excavator is known for its affordability, durability, and adaptability, designed to meet the terrain, climate, and other environmental needs in Africa.

"These machines are designed for African clients, with a stable monthly supply of 30 to 36 units. Upgrades such as reinforced mechanical arms, increased water tank capacity, and customized hydraulic breakers have boosted the product's market competitiveness," said Kong Pengcheng, the company's president.

In addition to the DX370, other excavators like the DX230 and DX1250 are also in demand in overseas markets. "Over 90 percent of Pengcheng Max's products are exported to markets including Europe, America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia," Kong added.

In 2024, the company operated a major manufacturing base with a total investment of 1.4 billion yuan. It currently holds over 30 invention patents and is collaborating with a State-owned enterprise to develop a 220-metric-ton electric mining truck, scheduled for launch in June.

Supported by Weihai's strategy to expand trade with Africa, the company aims to produce 3,000 vehicles and reach 1 billion yuan in output value this year, with a focus on innovations in eco-friendliness and autonomous driving for the African market.
