Print PrintChina's foreign trade has reached new heights, with the trade surplus exceeding $1 trillion for the first time in the first 11 months of this year, demonstrating its resilience and vitality amid current international trade conditions. Shandong province has played a significant role in this achievement.
In the first 11 months, Shandong's total imports and exports reached 3.19 trillion yuan ($451.72 billion), up 4.6 percent year-on-year. Exports amounted to 1.95 trillion yuan, accounting for nearly 8 percent of the country's total exports.
Manufacturing exports, mainly including mechanical and electrical products, reached 14.89 trillion yuan, accounting for 60.9 percent of the total national exports, a significant factor in the increase in China's trade surplus.
Meanwhile, Shandong's foreign trade structure is undergoing a transformation. While exports of labor-intensive products have declined, high-tech and high-value-added products such as integrated circuits and automobiles have shown strong growth. In the first 11 months, the province's exports of integrated circuits increased by 24.1 percent and automobiles by 18.2 percent, outpacing the national average.
Moreover, Shandong has diversified its trade partners. Exports to emerging markets such as Africa and Latin America have surged, with exports to Africa growing by 33.5 percent and to Latin America by 5.8 percent. This diversification has helped the province mitigate risks from trade protectionism and global trade frictions.
