In recent years, PipeChina (Shandong) has concentrated on intelligence and low-carbon development to promote the safe, efficient, and stable transportation and supply of oil and gas energy in the region.
The Shandong branch operates and manages the oil and gas pipelines, oil depots, and ancillary facilities of PipeChina within Shandong. So far, the enterprise has enabled dual-pipeline gas supply in 12 local cities, establishing a sea-land shared gas-source energy supply pattern.
Digital intelligence is essential for upgrading the pipeline industry. At the Jinan West Station pilot project of the China-Russia east-route natural gas pipeline in Shandong, PipeChina (Shandong) used domestic PLC, PCS servers, workstations, and software in a gas station for the first time. This achievement addressed the domestic technical gap in long-distance oil and gas pipeline control systems, bolstering energy security.
Over the past two years, the Shandong branch has applied 113 PCS systems, with 26 added in 2024. It also achieved a one-key-start-stop function for Siemens compressors at the Tai'an compression station, improving production efficiency.
PipeChina (Shandong) has built an intelligent monitoring center for comprehensive supervision of inspections, operations, and security. The center has integrated 360,000 production data points, covering over 8,200 kilometers of oil and gas pipelines and 110 process stations in the province, enabling remote real-time monitoring of key station operations.
Huangdao Oil Depot, a model of the Shandong branch's smart construction, has had remarkable results. It has completed 128 oil-product-transfer operations with one-click-generated dispatch orders and operation tickets. The intelligent diagnosis system has issued over 23,000 alarms and prompts, with a smart confirmation rate exceeding 90 percent.

Technological breakthroughs also drive the enterprise's green transition. In March, the Shandong branch, in cooperation with five entities, completed the full-speed test of the first-of-its-kind natural gas pressure-recovery power-generation equipment, advancing the core technology of expander precision manufacturing and forming an independent intellectual property rights solution.
The equipment is expected to generate about 3 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, enough for about 2,000 families of three for a year, while reducing carbon dioxide emissions by over 1,700 metric tons.
