East China's Shandong province launched the "Friendly Shandong, Discover Qilu Cultural Tour" Confucius-Themed Study Tour Promotion Event on Sept 27 in Qufu, Jining, the birthplace of Confucius. As part of the 2025 China International Confucius Culture Festival, it aims to connect over 30 cultural and historical sites across Shandong, following the sage's footsteps and exploring the core values of Confucianism.
The province has been enhancing its study tour industry recently, aiming to become an international destination for educational travel. It has created a diverse range of study tour products tailored for different age groups and interests, from youth to seniors and international visitors. The Confucius-themed study tour includes themes such as nature appreciation, academic pursuit, and moral cultivation, all rooted in Confucian philosophy.
Local officials highlighted the significance of this promotion in spreading Confucian culture and boosting cultural tourism. The event coincides with the global celebration of Confucius and the peak travel season of Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday, attracting domestic and international tourists.
Cities like Jining, Zibo, Dongying, and Liaocheng participated in the event, showcasing their unique cultural heritages. From the rich Confucian traditions of Qufu to the ancient Grand Canal culture of Liaocheng, these regions offer a comprehensive and immersive cultural experience.
