Jinan, capital of Shandong, has made great strides in promoting industrial internet innovation and digital infrastructure construction, said Yuan Hui, deputy director of the Jinan municipal bureau of industry and information technology.

The city was selected as one of China's first pilot cities for the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in 2023. In 2024, it ranked eighth in the national artificial intelligence city rankings.

Its industrial internet infrastructure is being steadily enhanced. To date, it has built more than 57,000 5G bases, the highest number in Shandong, has established a national internet exchange center, and has rolled out the world's first advanced network ensuring reliable speed and stability.

It is also rapidly expanding AI computing power. The Jinan Artificial Intelligence Computing Center has a computing capacity of 1,000 PFlops, becoming the province's first E-level high-performance intelligent computing cluster. Meanwhile, 25 local data centers have been rated 3A or above at the provincial level, more than any other city in Shandong.

The city's industrial internet platforms continue to advance as well. It has developed seven national-level specialized internet platforms and 80 platforms at or above the provincial level, the highest number in the province.

In addition, it has established one national industrial internet park, four provincial-level parks, and six municipal-level parks to promote the coordinated digital transformation of local enterprises.
