During the 2025 GWTO Enotourism Conference that just wrapped up in Yantai, East China's Shandong province, both domestic and international guests embarked on a captivating voyage into the vinicultural tapestry of Changyu, an age-old wine brand rooted in Yantai.

Their odyssey commenced at the Changyu 1892 Old Winery Park, a sanctuary steeped in over a century of wine-making excellence. Amidst the rustic industrial relics, guests were entranced by handcart-style mobile wine pumps and antique grape crushers, delving into the storied brewing legacy of Changyu.

They traversed the hallowed halls of founder Zhang Bishi's (1841-1916) office, immersing themselves in the early entrepreneurial spirit of Changyu and even trying their hands at blending wines.

Leaving the park behind, the guests embarked on a whimsical journey aboard a miniature train, venturing into the enchanting realm of the Changyu Liulin River Valley scenic area.

With a staggering investment of 5 billion yuan ($697 million) and sprawling across 5,500 mu (366.67 hectares), the Changyu Liulin River Valley scenic area seamlessly integrates technological innovation, wine and brandy production, and enotourism.

Hailed by Bloomberg as the "Disneyland of Wines", its 270,000-square-meter production center stands as the largest and most advanced single-site winery and brandy distillery globally.

From camping, lodging, barbecues and parties to cycling, leisurely strolls, wine tastings and educational tours — the area offers a myriad of wine-centric experiences.

On that remarkable day, the "Yantai: Capital of Chinese Brandy" sculpture was unveiled at the Chateau Koya Brandy, adding another illustrious chapter to Yantai's prestigious accolades following its status as Asia's sole "International Vine and Wine City".
