At the opening ceremony of this year's Nishan Forum on World Civilizations on July 9, Chhem Kieth Rethy, senior minister of the Royal Government of Cambodia, delivered a thought-provoking speech.
He said that modernization should not come at the cost of forgetting our roots. Instead, responsible modernization relies on remembering our identity, heritage, and values and letting past and present civilizations guide us.
