Thinking about what the future world might look like, one idea stands out — "harmony in diversity." This is the ideal that Confucius, the great Chinese sage, offered to the world.
The 11th Nishan Forum on World Civilizations, with the tagline "Beauty in Diversity: Nurturing Understanding Among Civilizations for Global Modernization", will be held in Qufu, Jining, Shandong province, from July 9 to 10, with the participation of over 400 experts and scholars from around the world. The forum aims to promote global dialogue and mutual understanding through the lens of traditional Chinese culture.
Nishan, the birthplace of Confucius, has become a global platform for cultural exchange. Over the years, the forum has evolved from a small gathering to a large-scale international event, attracting hundreds of scholars from around the world. It has expanded its focus from traditional humanities to modern issues like AI ethics, reflecting the dynamic integration of ancient wisdom and contemporary challenges.
The forum's influence is growing. Declarations like the Nishan Declaration and research reports have been published, promoting cultural dialogue. Major cultural projects, including the Confucius Research Institute and Nishan Sacred Land, have been established to enhance cultural exchange. These efforts have turned Nishan into a new landmark of Chinese civilization's global presence.
As the world faces increasing challenges, the forum's emphasis on "harmony in diversity" offers a valuable philosophical foundation. Scholars and leaders from various countries have praised its role in fostering global cooperation and peace. The 11th forum will continue this legacy, exploring how traditional values can guide modern society towards a more harmonious future.
