Jose Antonio Vidal, president of the Global Wine Tourism Organization (GWTO) praised the tourism potential of Yantai on the international stage during the 2025 GWTO Ecotourism Conference on July 2.

Vidal said that wine tourism was emerging internationally as part of the solution for the growth of the wine industry and that Yantai had the advantage to become a prime global wine tourism destination.

“Yantai has the sea, the coast, the combination to visit your sun and beaches and the wine regions,” Vidal said, adding that it was also perfect for wine tourism.

The 2025 GWTO Ecotourism Conference held in Yantai from July 2 to 5 is hosted by the GWTO and Yantai government, aiming to explore innovation in global wine tourism. At the conference Yantai was awarded the "International Certificate as a Responsible Enotourism Destination" for its sustainable development achievements.
