A roundtable on rural vitalization cooperation was held in Liaocheng, Shandong province, on May 29 to mark the third anniversary of the establishment of the China-Pacific Island Countries Climate Action Cooperation Center.

The event brought together government officials, scholars, and student representatives from nine Pacific Island countries, including Tonga, the Federated States of Micronesia, and Vanuatu, along with Chinese participants to exchange insights on rural governance and poverty alleviation, as well as to explore new opportunities for cooperation.

The China-Pacific Island Countries Climate Action Cooperation Center, launched in Liaocheng, Shandong province, in April 2022, is a key part of China’s efforts to support Pacific Island countries in addressing climate change.

Over the past three years, with the support of the center, Shandong province has carried out extensive exchanges with Pacific Island countries across various areas, including training programs, study visits, humanitarian aid, and cultural exchanges.
