Jinan, capital of Shandong province, has forged friendly relations with cities across all five continents, enhancing its international connections and broadening its global network.

The city has strengthened ties with its sister cities through closer technological cooperation, including the establishment of joint ventures with partner city enterprises. These collaborations highlight Jinan's commitment to innovation-driven development and international business exchange.

In the field of education, Jinan has established 27 sister school partnerships with cities including Vantaa, Augsburg, Rennes, Suwon, Andong, Wakayama, Yamaguchi, and Joondalup. These partnerships have supported long-term exchanges in areas such as student and teacher visits, curriculum development, calligraphy, and cultural programs.

The city has also launched a friendly cooperative garden initiative. So far, 10 gardens representing cities such as Suwon, Nizhny Novgorod, and Vantaa have been built in Jinan.

As of 2024, Jinan had established relations with 92 sister and friendly cooperative cities, including 29 sister cities in 26 countries and 63 friendly cooperative cities in 38 countries.
