Ka-lai Chan, Associated Professor of the Advanced Institute of Confucian Studies at Shandong University, discussed Confucian values in modern society during the 10th Nishan Forum on World Civilizations on July 11. The importance of education is at the core of Confucius' philosophy, he said. 

The forum, held from July 10 to 11 in Qufu, Shandong province, the birthplace of Confucius, attracted 700 guests, including nearly 400 international guests from 63 countries, who shared their views on traditional cultures and modern civilizations.
