In order to support the Japanese local government and people in fighting against COVID-19, the first batch of medical supplies donated by Shandong to Japan arrived at Kansai International Airport in Japan on March 13. 

After the customs clearance, the medical supplies will be sent to Wakayama Prefecture, Hokkaido, and Kanagawa Prefecture.

Yoshinobu Nisaka, governor of Wakayama Prefecture, said that, after the outbreak in Japan, Shandong province not only sent sympathies to Wakayama Prefecture promptly, but also took the initiative to donate medical supplies to support the epidemic prevention and control efforts in the prefecture. He expressed his deep gratitude for this and hoped that, after the epidemic, the two side will immediately restart friendly exchanges.

Shandong and Wakayama established sister province/prefecture relationship in 1984. The two sides enjoy close cexchanges in such areas as economy and trade, tourism, environmental protection, people-to-people ties and culture, and have extensive and deep cooperation with fruitful results.
