Wakayama prefecture, Japan sent a video on Feb 20 to extend locals' support for East China's Shandong province amid the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pneumonia.

In the video, government officials, students, teachers, monks and representatives from local international organizations expressed their solidarity with Shandong as the province works to find a resolution to the ongoing crisis. They welcomed people from Shandong to visit the prefecture after the battle is won and enjoy local food and charming scenery.

"Stay strong, Shandong! Stay strong, China!" they said.

Shandong and Wakayama officially established a partnership in 1984. Since then, the two sides have maintained close ties in terms of both culture and economy.
