SPG opens Xiangyang Inland Port to strengthen sea-rail logistics

(chinadaily.com.cn) | 2026-07-01

Shandong Port Group (SPG) launched its Xiangyang Inland Port at the Xiangyang Logistics Base of Wuhan Railway Logistics Center on June 27, marking its 57th inland port and expanding its inland logistics network.

Located in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, Xiangyang is a key hub linking the Yangtze River Economic Belt with the Yellow River Basin and a core city of the national Wuhan-Xiangyang-Shiyan-Suizhou automobile industrial cluster. With Dongfeng Motor as an anchor, the city has built a complete industrial chain covering passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles and new energy vehicles, creating strong demand for efficient export logistics.

SPG has long worked closely with Xiangyang industries. The regular Xiangyang-Qingdao Port sea-rail train enables direct factory-to-port services, reducing transshipment links and logistics costs while forming an integrated system of source consolidation, port connection and global delivery.

The new inland port extends Qingdao Port's port services, shipping routes and container functions to Xiangyang. It will provide integrated services including booking, customs clearance, cargo consolidation, end-to-end logistics and supply chain finance, bringing port services closer to local manufacturers.

SPG will deepen cooperation with Xiangyang enterprises, develop tailored logistics solutions and enhance multimodal transport services, jointly building a new model of port-industry integration, land-sea connectivity and mutually beneficial regional development.
