World Sailing has announced that its 2026 World Sailing Annual Conference and Awards will take place in Qingdao from Nov 16 to 21. It will be the first time the Chinese city, widely recognized as China's sailing capital, has hosted the prestigious gathering.

Over 400 international delegates and prominent sailing figures from around the world are expected to attend. The event will celebrate the sport's achievements and shape its future.

"Qingdao hosted the Olympic sailing competition at the Beijing 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games and has welcomed sailors from around the world to prestigious events for decades," said David Graham, CEO of World Sailing.

"The annual conference is always a special occasion, one where the global sailing community is able to come together, discuss proposals, celebrate our successes and share suggestions to improve the experience for sailors at all levels."

The World Sailing Awards, also part of the event, recognize outstanding athletes and those working to innovate and support the sport's growth.

Qingdao's strong sailing heritage includes receiving the World Sailing 2022 President's Development Award for its contributions to the sport. This successful bid marks another milestone for the city, known for hosting a wide range of international competitions, including the Clipper Race and World Sailing Championships.
