Sailing into summer: Qingdao's sea tourism heats up

(chinadaily.com.cn) | 2026-06-25

During the recently concluded Dragon Boat Festival holiday, Qingdao's marine tourism market continued to surge.

Over the three-day holiday, 2,240 sea tours were operated across the city, a year-on-year increase of 23.42 percent. These tours received 68,000 visitors, up 17.99 percent from the previous year, while operating revenue grew by 55.79 percent, achieving both volume and efficiency growth.

Since the start of summer, a variety of "marine+" experiences, including hanfu-themed cruises, have unleashed new consumption vitality. This unforgettable shade of blue is injecting strong momentum into Qingdao's cultural and tourism industry.

To tap into the holiday's cultural vibe, the city's cultural and tourism sector launched immersive "marine+" experiences. The hanfu-themed cruises stood out, featuring interactive storytelling, traditional dance, and cosplay performances aboard deck parties, blending maritime sightseeing with cultural charm.

The "travel Qingdao from the sea" tour brand now offers 22 signature routes and 36 product types, covering a wide stretch of the city’s coastline. Popular offerings include the cruise around Jiaozhou Bay”, the "sunset orange sea", and the "Fushan Bay night light show", tailored to diverse visitor preferences.

Going forward, Qingdao Tourism Group will continue enriching its "marine+" product lineup, sharpen the "travel Qingdao from the sea" tour brand, and build a smart, full-service system to accelerate Qingdao's transformation into a world-class coastal tourism destination.
