Qingdao seeks global talent for its science, innovation corridor development

(chinadaily.com.cn) | 2026-05-20

The Qingdao science and technology innovation corridor has issued its first list of high-end talent, seeking to recruit top researchers and professionals worldwide in four key sectors: marine, digital intelligence, ecology, and future industries.

The corridor, started in November last year, is a major project meant to drive high-quality development through technological progress.

In the marine sector, the focus is on experts in high-end marine equipment and marine AI models. Digital intelligence targets leaders in AI, next-generation IT, smart appliances, and green energy. Ecology seeks research talent in synthetic biology and marine biomedicine, while future industries look for strategic talent in brain-inspired intelligence, deep-sea development, and quantum technology.

Employers include the Qingdao campus of Shandong University, Laoshan Laboratory, the Institute of Oceanographic Instrumentation of Shandong Academy of Sciences, and several companies such as Qingdao Conson Group. Positions range from chair professors and researchers to postdocs, R&D directors, and chief engineers.

Qingdao offers a comprehensive support package: relocation allowances, housing subsidies, talent apartments, premium education for children, fast-track careers, and green-channel access for health care and travel. Candidates may also be nominated for provincial and municipal top-tier talent programs.

With a top-tier innovation ecosystem and extensive services, the corridor aims to attract global high-end talent and drive high-tech industry growth.
