On March 1, the 62nd Langya sea sacrifice ceremony took place in Langya town, Qingdao West Coast New Area. As a key part of the 2026 Spring Festival cultural calendar, the event drew nearly 10,000 visitors, providing an immersive experience that blended historical depth with vibrant folk traditions across five major thematic sections.

Recognized as a municipal intangible cultural heritage item in 2014, the Langya sea sacrifice ceremony combines fishing culture, blessing rituals, and maritime heritage. The event's centerpiece is a traditional ceremony where local fishers express gratitude to the ocean. These rituals link the region's past with its modern identity, presenting a unique cultural hallmark to the world.

Beyond the ceremony, a bustling Marine Market engaged attendees with live demonstrations of traditional crafts like sugar painting and handmade wooden boat construction. A dedicated culinary zone featured over 20 local snacks, while product exhibitions connected local producers with consumers.

The event hosted a recruitment fair, aligning industrial needs with local employment goals. Thirteen companies offered over 390 positions, resulting in more than 180 preliminary employment agreements.

By combining heritage preservation with economic growth and career services, the event has transformed into more than just a folk celebration; it is now a driver of regional development and community well-being.
