Qingdao students embrace traditions to welcome Spring Festival

(chinadaily.com.cn) | 2026-02-04

With the Chinese New Year approaching, a primary school in Qingdao's Shibei district held a special event on Feb 2, where students engaged in traditional intangible cultural heritage crafts. The event allowed children to explore festive customs through hands-on activities.

Guided by their teachers, students learned to make intricate flower-shaped steamed buns, paper-cuttings, and New Year woodblock prints. Each craft holds deep symbolic meaning for the Spring Festival, helping the young participants connect with their cultural roots while sparking creativity and joy.

Through this traditions learning exercise, the school not only celebrated the upcoming holiday but also fostered cultural appreciation in its students, ensuring these heritage arts continue to be valued by future generations.
