SPG secures green certificates, advances carbon goals

(chinadaily.com.cn) | 2025-10-15

Shandong Port Group (SPG) made significant progress in the green energy sector, with its subsidiary Beijing Lugang Holdings Development Group, obtaining 24,954 green electricity certificates issued by the National Energy Administration. This not only marks a milestone for SPG in the field of new energy, but also represents the first green certificate won by SPG, which contributes to its efforts to promote green port development and implement the national carbon peaking and carbon neutrality strategy.

As the only official certificate for green electricity consumption, each green certificate represents 1,000 kilowatt-hours of green electricity. It serves as a critical basis for enterprises to implement the concept of green consumption and fulfill their responsibilities to advance renewable energy consumption. SPG's acquisition of trading qualification for 24,954 green certificates will directly drive the consumption of 24.95 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity. This is equivalent to replacing a five-million-metric-ton truck transportation capacity and is expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 12,477 tons, reflecting tangible and clear green value.

In the future, SPG will use this achievement as a new starting point to further enhance its efforts and investment in wind power, photovoltaic power, and other renewable energy industries. The aim is to optimize the energy consumption structure across SPG, strive to provide an SPG model of clean energy transition for the national port industry, and make greater contributions to China's "dual carbon" goals.
