Residents in Qingdao make lanterns to celebrate festival
As Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day approach, the Zhongjiagou community in Qingdao launched a cultural activity where residents learned to make persimmon-shaped lanterns. The event combined traditional craftsmanship with contemporary creativity, allowing participants to experience the charm of cultural heritage while building a festive atmosphere for the upcoming holidays.
Under the guidance of instructors, residents skillfully used materials such as colored paper, wire, and lights to make vibrant lanterns shaped like persimmons — a fruit symbolizing good fortune and fulfillment in Chinese culture. Each piece reflected not only technical effort but also the participants' hopes for a sweet and prosperous life.
The activity was an engaging way for families, especially children and seniors, to bond across generations while exploring the artistic value of traditional festive customs.
