The 2025 list of China's top 500 enterprises was released on Sept 16. Among the regions, Shandong secured fourth place with 52 companies on the list, five of which are based in Qingdao.

These five enterprises — Haier Group, Hisense Group, Shandong Port Group, Ronghe Holding Group, and Ocean Holdings Group — all achieved higher rankings this year. Haier climbed seven places to 67th with a revenue of 401.63 billion yuan ($56.46 billion), while Hisense rose five spots to 130th with 215.33 billion yuan. Shandong Port Group experienced the most significant jump, advancing 25 positions to 147th place.

The consistent upward movement reflects Qingdao's ongoing industrial transformation and dynamic economic growth. Haier and Hisense, as local leaders, have not only solidified their dominance in the home appliance sector but also emerged as symbols of the city's innovation strength.

Haier, now exceeding 400 billion yuan in revenue, remains the world's largest home appliance brand by sales volume. Hisense, a frequent sponsor of global sporting events, has ranked among China's top 10 global brands for eight years and currently leads the global market for 100-inch TVs.

The presence of Shandong Port Group and the two companies from Qingdao West Coast New Area — Ronghe Holding Group and Ocean Holdings Group — underscores Qingdao's strategic role in national initiatives.

As a key hub for the Yellow River Basin's ecological and high-quality development strategy, the port handled 694 million metric tons of cargo and 32.17 million TEUs in 2024.
