Blending cutting-edge technology, art, and emotional healing, an immersive exhibition Theatre of Emotions — A Technoetic Healing Journey opens on May 30 at Tsingtao Haitian View & Art in Shandong province.
Running until Oct 10 and jointly curated by artist-actor Huang Bo and Central Academy of Fine Arts professor Fei Jun, the exhibition marks the first major art show hosted by Qingdao Conson Development (Group) Co Ltd under its initiative to promote original cultural experiences.
The show offers a four-part interactive journey — testing, perception, transformation, and reconstruction — that translates complex emotions into tangible artistic expressions. Set 369 meters above sea level, the exhibition space invites visitors to embark on a multi-sensory voyage designed to release anxiety and restore emotional balance.
A native of Qingdao, Huang takes on dual roles as curator and participating artist. His installation Breaker evokes childhood memories of the sea, while his interactive media piece Draw allows viewers to co-create generative artworks with the help of touchscreens, blending human creativity and artificial intelligence.
The exhibition also presents, for the first time, the collaborative research between Fei and psychologist Liu Zhengkui, which explores the intersection of art, technology, and emotional therapy. Their work reimagines art spaces not merely as venues for observation, but as "social breathing devices" for emotional transformation.
The opening ceremony was attended by officials from the Qingdao city Party committee, the Qingdao culture and tourism bureau, and Conson, as well as notable figures from the art and psychology fields.
Guided by the Qingdao publicity department and supported by the city's culture and tourism bureau, the exhibition is co-organized by Qingdao Conson Culture Tourism Management Co Ltd, ART+TECH, and Beijing XDX Art Center. It builds a new arena where AI, interactive art, and healing aesthetics converge — where every emotion is heard, and every visitor can find a renewed sense of self.
