The 20th Huabiao Film Awards ceremony took place in Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA) on April 27.

The Songlei Film Culture Museum in Qingdao WCNA exhibits various precious relics from Qingdao's century-long film history, including film projectors, tickets from different eras, movie scripts, and stills. The spot has become a prime destination for film enthusiasts and tourists alike.

As China's pioneering heavy industrial film base, the China Movie Metropolis, a part of the Qingdao Film and Television Base, was established to meet top international standards from the outset. Films like The Wandering Earth and A Writer's Odyssey, which were produced in Qingdao WCNA, clinched multiple awards at the 18th and 19th Huabiao Film Awards, underscoring the Qingdao Film and Television Base's prowess in content creation and artistry.

A pioneer

In 2012, a cohort of emerging directors, including Ning Hao, Wuershan, and Guo Fan, were dispatched to Hollywood to learn about the production methodologies of mature commercial cinema. Today, most of these directors have spearheaded the exploration of Chinese cinema's industrialization at the China Movie Metropolis.

Moreover, a number of specialized teams have opted to establish roots in the China Movie Metropolis, spanning the entire film production spectrum from art design and prop fabrication to concept creation, special effects makeup, and film equipment leasing.
