During the visit, Ryu met Gao Shanwu, director of both zones. Gao briefed the delegation on the zones' progress. He urged continued consular support for the proposed China-Japan-South Korea Innovation Cooperation Center Qingdao Base.

The delegation toured the Qingdao FTZ Exhibition Hall and two South Korean plants – Dine & Korloy Factory Qingdao and Shinhan Diamond Industrial (Qingdao) – to review operations and expansion plans.

Ryu praised the zones' "pre-inspection" service for agricultural exports to South Korea and voiced readiness to deepen cooperation in biotech, green development, and broader trade and cultural ties.

Official data show Qingdao FTZ has drawn 191 South Korean projects with more than $1 billion in registered capital.
